ten fourteen, what can it mean?

what do the numbers mean? is it some secret code? actually it’s more mundane than that: 1014 is the street number of a townhouse on new york’s fifth avenue – and the name of the independent us-based not-for-profit organisation located there. it was founded in 2017 – on the initiative of the german federal foreign office and the goethe-institut – with the aim of promoting transatlantic dialogue in new and interesting ways.

the brand is a number, which sets no limits on its meaning, creating the kind of neutral space that’s perfect for hosting this organisation’s diverse events and interdisciplinary formats. it brings together the national colours of germany and the usa, merging them into an equation: one plus one, here, equals ten fourteen.
